Jon Rees F.C.A.
Jon joined Shepherd Hallett as a trainee Chartered Accountant in 1992 after graduating from Reading University. He qualified in 1995 and won both regional and national prizes in the professional exams.
He became a partner of Carston following the merger with Shepherd Hallett in 2000.
Jon specialises in advising owner managed business from both a personal and corporate tax perspective and is a member of the Tax Faculty. He advises owners on all aspects of their business but with a particular onus on tax minimisation, profit maximisation and exit strategies. His client portfolio is extremely wide ranging, with most business sectors represented.
As a member of the Institute's Entertainment and Media Group, he advises a number of high net worth individuals in both the sports and entertainment worlds on both UK and overseas tax issues. Recently Jon has advised a number of such individuals on minimising their tax liabilities in respect of property disposals.
Jon also has a large amount of experience in the tax investigation field. He has successfully represented clients at all levels of Inland Revenue investigation, including Special Compliance Office enquiries and Special Commissioners Hearings.
When not being an accountant, Jon is an active member of Cardiff Cricket Club and has been known to enjoy the odd night out after a game.
